Ballerina on a Budget Costume
Ballerina on a Budget Costume
Time: 30-45 minutes
Effort: Quick and easy no sewing required
Materials:
- Kitchen trash bags in pretty colors
- Tights
- Leotard
- Pretty shoes or slippers
- Scissors
- Hairpins
Instructions: To make this cheap Halloween costume, take three of the garbage bags and pull the drawstrings until they're snug. Lay the bags side to side. Tie the loop/drawstring on one side of one bag to the loop on the second bag. Go to the second loop/string of the second bag, and tie that to the nearest loop of a third. Continue until you have a sufficiently poufed and colorful "skirt" to go around your child's waist.
Trim the bottoms of the bags to give a zig-zaggy, flower-petal effect. For a headpiece, tie two trash bags together in same fashion as the skirt. Cut the bags short, very zig-zaggy, and fluff them up. Attach the headpiece to your child's hair by pushing hairpins through the knot.
Other details: This costume is not for kids age three and under, due to the choking and suffocation hazards of plastic.
