Fall is definitely in the air, and what better way to celebrate the change of season than with a few toddler-friendly crafts to get your little ones in the Halloween spirit. These pumpkin crafts for toddlers are both easy to make and a pleasure to display, so get your crafting apron on and have a blast making these whimsical decorations with your kids.

Tissue Paper Pumpkins

Materials:

  • Orange tissue paper
  • 9″ round cake pan
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Candy
  • Green floral tape

Directions:

  1. Stack two sheets of orange tissue paper together and place a round cake pan on top of them.
  2. Trace around the cake pan, then cut out the traced circles using scissors.
  3. Place a handful of candies in the center of the tissue paper circles, then gather up the edges to create a pouch.
  4. Pinch the ends and twist them with your fingers to seal the candies inside.
  5. Wrap green floral tape around the twisted top to resemble a pumpkin stem and secure the candies inside.

Materials:

  • Orange card stock
  • Scissors
  • Colored cellophane
  • Black construction paper
  • Contact paper

Directions:

  1. Cut a large pumpkin shape out of orange card stock using scissors, then cut out the middle of the pumpkin to create an open area.
  2. Cut out strips of colored cellophane and spooky face pieces from black construction paper.
  3. Place the pumpkin shape on top of a sheet of contact paper, with the sticky side facing up.
  4. Arrange the spooky face and cellophane pieces on the contact paper until the open area is filled.
  5. Place a second sheet of contact paper on top of the pumpkin, with the sticky side facing down.
  6. Trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges of the pumpkin.
  7. hang up in a sunny window.

Materials:

  • Balloon
  • Orange yarn
  • White school glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Green chenille sticks

Directions:

  1. Inflate a round balloon, and tie the end tightly.
  2. Wrap orange yarn around the balloon, making sure to wrap the yarn evenly across the surface.
  3. Apply white school glue over the yarn with a paintbrush, then allow the glue to dry completely.
  4. Pop the balloon and remove it from the yarn shell.
  5. Attach a green chenille stick to the top of the yarn pumpkin, then twist it to resemble a stem.

Materials:

  • Orange tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Glass mason jar
  • ModPodge
  • Sponge brush
  • Black construction paper
  • LED tea light

Directions:

  1. Cut orange tissue paper into small pieces. You can use one shade of orange, or different shades to create a stained glass appearance.
  2. Cover the surface of a glass mason jar with ModPodge, then stick the tissue paper pieces all over the jar.
  3. Cut out a spooky pumpkin face from black construction paper with scissors, and glue it on to the jar with ModPodge.
  4. Allow the ModPodge to dry completely, then place an LED tea light inside.

Sock PumpkinSock Pumpkin Craft

Materials:

  • Funnel
  • Orange sock
  • Dried rice or beans
  • Stick
  • Rubber band
  • Black felt
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Googly eyes

Directions:

  1. Place a funnel into the opening of an inside-out orange sock.
  2. Pour dried rice or beans, filling the sock about halfway full.
  3. Push a stick into the middle of the rice or beans so that the end of the stick pokes up out of the sock.
  4. Cinch the opening of the sock around the stick, just above the level of rice or beans, and secure it with a rubber band.
  5. Pull the end of the sock down over the ball of rice or beans, which will reveal the "right side" of the sock.
  6. Cut out a spooky pumpkin face from black felt, and glue it on to the sock pumpkin using fabric glue.
  7. Attach two googly eyes onto the pumpkin face using fabric glue. Allow the glue to dry completely.
