Animal Restaurants

Invent crazy restaurants with your kids, taking the perspective of various critters.

Animal Restaurants

  • Your time only

Optional:

  • Writing/drawing supplies

Ever heard of the Fresh Fly Café? You would if you were a frog. How about the Hay Loft? It would be your eatery of choice if you were a horse.

The idea behind this activity is to invent zany restaurants from the perspective of various critters. Cats would probably enjoy the Mousecake Emporium, while an anteater would no doubt dress to the nines before going to the Top of the Hill. For each restaurant, suggest that your child include the following in his or her descriptions:

  • The house specialty
  • Typical menu items
  • Menus for youngsters
  • Wall and table decorations
  • Price range
  • Floor shows, music, and other attractions

For extra fun, consider making actual menus and asking everyone in the family to guess what kind of animal would frequent the restaurant. Hmm, now let's see-who would be likely to enjoy a platter of flambéed spider legs?
