Party Theme

Aside from being completely adorable, Curious George is a wonderful character for kids to connect with, sparking a playful curiosity about the world around them. What a perfect theme for a children’s party! In Curious George and the Pizza Party, George and his friends let their imaginations soar while they make their very own pizzas. Are you ready to do the same?

Party Schedule

Below is a fool-proof schedule that works for any children’s party. From trial and error, we’ve found that for young children, a 2-hour party starting at 10:30 a.m. works perfectly for hosts, guests and their parents.

  • 10:30 a.m. Craft station.
  • 11:00 a.m. Play a lively game.
  • 11:20 a.m. Enjoy a restful activity such as storytelling.
  • 11:40 a.m. Allow children to create their own lunch.
  • 12:00 noon Eat lunch.
  • 12:15 p.m. Play a game without partners or prizes.
  • 12:30 p.m. Party ends

Our pizza party is going to get started mid-morning, and finish off with a delicious pizza lunch before home time.

Activity 1: Craft Station

No matter whether they are first or last to arrive, kids joining the party will feel more at ease with a focal point and something they can do alongside other children. A kids’ craft activity works a treat!

Set up a bubble wand making station with pipe cleaners, plenty of colorful beads and some cookie cutter shapes. Then, the kids can have fun creating their own different wands, blowing bubbles and popping them.

Check our Arts & Crafts for Kids section and the Curious World app for more ideas!

Activity 2: Play A Lively Party Game

Now that everyone has arrived and is feeling more at ease, it’s time to play a lively party game. At our Curious George party, we’re going to play Musical Statues with funny monkey poses!

Top tip: With younger children it’s usually best to focus on the fun of the game itself, and just leave the prizes out of the equation.

Activity 3: Story Time

Having spent the past 20 minutes jumping around, the children will be ready for a cool drink and a little break. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a little down time with a children’s book aligned with your party’s theme. Read or listen to Curious George and the Pizza Party together on the app, then ask who wants to make their own pizza. We guarantee a resounding YES!

Activity 4: Design Your Own Pizza

Are you ready? It’s time to let the kids loose with pizza dough or bases, grated cheese, tomato sauce and chopped vegetables. If you’ve bought mini pizza bases, encourage them to get creative and make funny faces with the vegetables. If you’re brave enough to let them roll out the dough, help them get it nice and thin, and use cookie cutters to make fun shapes.

Top tips:

  • Check with parents beforehand to make sure you have vegan cheese and gluten-free dough and kosher toppings if necessary.
  • Preheat the oven while they’re decorating their pizzas so that you can cook their creations in time for lunch.
  • Pizza is one of our favorite ways to disguise vegetables – other moms and dads will love you for it!

Lunchtime

Alongside the pizzas the kids have made, fresh fruit, Fro Yo bites and these chocolate-dipped frozen bananas will go down a treat. Check the app for an easy step-by-step How to Make Fro Yo bites video – you and your child can make them together the night before the party.

Activity 5: Play A Party Game Without Prizes

Parents will start arriving soon, so be sure to choose a game without prizes or partners. This is a great time for a group game like Animal Charades. Instructions on how to play are here.

Goodie Bags

Would you believe it’s already pick-up time! Time has flown by, hasn’t it?

For a fun themed party bag the children will genuinely love, there’s no need to break the bank. These monkey and banana cookies are easy to make at home, and are much easier to bring home than a slice of birthday cake. Wrap one for each child (and their siblings) in a small cellophane bag, tie with ribbon, and add a cute name tag. They’ll take it home along with their painting or craft and a great big smile.
