School is officially out and that means plenty of time spent outdoors in the summertime heat. One thing about summer is that there's better no way to cramp your fun than having your hair constantly falling in your face and making you feel sticky and sweaty. Sure, you could stick it in a ponytail or messy bun, but where's the fun in that? Here are four trendy summer hairdos and hairstyles for mom and kids to help you both stay cool and collected this year. The best part? You can style any of these dos in under ten minutes. Feel free to pick matching hairstyles with your kiddo or you can each choose something different:

Fishtail Braid

Fishtail braids take a little practice to master, but once you do, you can pull it together in no time. Part your hair down the middle and pull your hair into two sections on either side of your head. Take a strand of hair from the outside of the right-hand section and weave that strand of hair over the top of the right section and underneath the left section. Add it to the left section of hair. Repeat on the left side. Keep alternating sides, braiding the hair over and under. When you reach the end of the hair, tie it off with a hair tie.

Top Knot

These days, polished top knots are all the rage. To pull it off, simply pull all of your hair into a high ponytail. Secure with an elastic. Then, twist your hair all the way down and loop into a top knot. Pin in place with bobby pins all the way around.

Low Braided Bun

First, pull your hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck and secure with an elastic. Next, create a flipped or inversed ponytail. Use your fingers to make a hole in the hair right at the center of the back of your head. While keeping the hair separated, pull the ponytail end through the hole. Pull tight. Braid the remaining ponytail and flip that up into the same hole again and tuck away the loose ends. Secure with bobby pins.

Looped Ponytail

The looped ponytail is similar to the low bun in that you're going to use the same process to flip or inverse your ponytail. But first, create three ponytails in a line along the center of the back of your head, the last should be at the base of your neck. Then, inverse the top ponytail, pulling through tight. Next, use your fingers to make a hole in the hair of the second ponytail as if you were going to create an inverse ponytail, but instead, pull through the hair from the top ponytail first. Then, pull through the hair from the second ponytail. Do the same thing for the bottom ponytail.
