This activity describes how to set up a sidewalk-art contest for all the kids in your neighborhood.

- 40 minutes to 1 hour

- Paper
- Colored chalk
Directions
- Art is fun together, but you can take it a step further by inviting the neighborhood gang to join a sidewalk-art contest. Agree on the time and place, and make up a list of categories and prizes (perhaps ice cream or other cool treats).
- Make sure that everyone wins, even if you have to invent additional categories to make that happen.
- Take photos of the entries and give them to the artists.
- Have a clean-up party several days later at an agreed-upon time, when everyone can throw buckets of water on the drawings to conclude the event.
