  • Polish (Wyszyński) : habitational name for someone from Wyszyny or Wyszyna, both named with the personal name Wysza, a derivative of the personal names Wyszesław or Wyszemir.
  • This Polish noble name dates back to the 15th century. Stefan Wyszyński (1901–81) was archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw and the primate of Poland. Between 1953 and 1956 he was interned in the cloister of Komańcza by the communist regime. In Poland he is known as “The Primate of the Millenium”.
