  • Irish : of uncertain origin. Woulfe suggests an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Cromlaoich ‘descendant of Cromlaoch’, from a byname meaning ‘bent hero’. MacLysaght maintains that, in some cases at least, it is a variant of Crumlish.
