  • Galician (Castelán) : generally from Galician castelán, an ethnic name for a Castilian (Castilian castellano). However, in some cases it may be a habitational name, from places in Lugo and A Coruña provinces called Castelán, or it could be an occupational name denoting a bailiff or steward.
