Artist Costume

Follow these simple instructions to make an Artist costume for Halloween.

Artist Costume

Time: 24 hours

Effort: Fairly easy — some sewing required

Materials:

  • Big white shirt
  • Felt for beret (any color)
  • Bobby pins
  • Black tights/leggings
  • Paintbrushes
  • Several colors of paint
  • Artist's palette
  • Eyeliner
  • Artist's palette, or cardboard and scissors to make one

Instructions: Put different-colored blotches of paint on the white shirt. Cut a circle from the felt a little bigger than your child's head. Sew a running stitch around the outside of the felt and pull the thread in just a little to make the felt puff up. (The beret will just sit on the head, attached with bobby pins.)

Put the paint brushes in the shirt pocket, and give your child the palette to carry. (You can cut the palette out of cardboard, in a kidney shape, or buy one at a craft store.) For an extra bohemian touch, pencil on a moustache or goatee.
