Deborah Cruz

Deborah Cruz author headshot

Deborah is an award-winning parenting and lifestyle writer who has been creating content on the internet since 2009. She’s a Latina from Chicago who married her college boyfriend, the Big Guy. She’s the girl mom of 2 awesome teenage daughters, and dog mom to a Victorian bulldog, Lola, and a Dogue de Bordeaux puppy, Stella. Her favorite thing to do is travel the world with her family (she speaks 4 languages), express herself through fashion and food and spend time with the Big Guy and the good humans they’re raising.

With an insatiable thirst for learning from an early age, Deborah has always been curious and loves to expand her knowledge of the world and the people in it. Her husband lovingly refers to her as the ultimate dinner party host because of her inexhaustible knowledge of a little bit about everything. Through a combination of experience and being a lifetime student, Deborah has developed expertise in politics, history, criminology, digital storytelling, liberal studies, elementary education and digital marketing.

Deborah thrives on deadlines and runs on Venti Chai Matchas. She can often be found doing marketing research for her classes, practicing her languages on Babbel, helping her girls navigate the murky waters of high school and the teen years, being brutally honest and irreverent on the internet or walking her daily 5K to keep her diabetes and mental health in check. Her life mantra is, “where there is a will, there is a way” and she lives by that while trying to lift up the people she loves. She’s a fierce mama bear with a heart of gold and the mouth of a sailor.

Deborah has been published on several sites including The TRUTH about Motherhood, Scary Mommy, Huffington Post, Latina Mom. Me, Mamas Latinas, MiTu, Mom.com, Café Mom, Mommyish, Parenting, SheKnows, Today Parenting, PopSugar and here on Family Education.
