Greaser from the 50s Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Greaser from the 50s costume.

Greaser from the 50s Costume

Time: 30 minutes

Effort: Quick and easy – no sewing required

Materials:

  • Blue jeans
  • White T-shirt
  • Comb
  • Pomade
  • Converse All-Stars or motorcycle boots
  • Buddy Holly style glasses or sunglasses (optional)

Instructions: Dampen your child's hair and put the pomade in it. Try to comb it into a fifties- style hairdo. (If you're not sure about this, look at a picture of Bill Haley or Elvis.)

Have your child put on the jeans, the T-shirt, and shoes (or boots). Cuff the jeans about an inch or so. Stick the comb in his back pocket. Roll up the T-shirt sleeves so that they cuff.

Other details: Teach your child these expressions: "Hey, Daddy-o" or "Hey wanna race?" or "Wanna rumble?" Remind him to constantly check his hair with his hand or the comb.
