You might want to try substituting paper doilies for the lace used in making lacey eggs. You could also make these eggs with glued-on sequins or acrylic jewels. Display the finished products by hanging them on a tree branch that is sprayed white and placed in a pot of dirt covered with Spanish moss. To hang an egg, insert a small piece of a toothpick with embroidery thread tied around the middle of it into the hole before covering it. Pull up on the thread until the toothpick is sideways against the inside of the hole and holds the thread in place.
Gather your family together to help you make these beautiful Easter eggs that you can use year after year. You might want to spray paint an egg carton with an Easter color to keep them safe in between use.

Time involved: Two to three hours, including drying time
Materials:
- Dozen eggs
- Bowl
- Straight pin
- Nail
- Toothpick
- Dark green, maroon, navy, and yellow glossy craft paints
- Paintbrushes
- Foam tray
- Assorted pieces of lace (Use the type of lace that has distinct designs that can be cut out.)
- Scissors
- Tacky glue
- Clear acrylic finish spray
Hold an egg over a bowl. Using a straight pin, poke a hole in both ends of the egg. Use the nail to enlarge the hole by slightly twisting it into the started holes. Make the hole about 1/4-inch wide. Stir the egg inside with a toothpick, and shake the egg to remove the mixture. Rinse the egg inside and out and allow to dry.

Paint the egg with a high-gloss craft paint of your choice and allow to dry.

Cut out designs from the lace pieces. Glue these in a pattern on the egg. Be sure to cover both holes with a piece of cut-out lace. Allow to dry.

Spray the egg with clear acrylic finish spray and allow to dry.
Repeat these steps using different colors and lace patterns until all of the eggs are decorated.
