Sophie Lanctôt is an advisor for students with disabilities at HEC Montréal. She holds a bachelor's degree in special and social education from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a master’s degree in the foundations of education from the Université de Montréal. She has been working for over 25 years with individuals who have special needs (learning disabilities, autism, attention deficit, anxiety, physical or sensory impairments, etc.).
She has held positions in remedial education and as a teacher in specialized classrooms for elementary and secondary school children. She later worked in an adult education center and also served as a practicum supervisor for the bachelor’s program in preschool and elementary education at the Université de Sherbrooke.
Through her various roles, she has developed a deep understanding of the diversity of brain functioning as well as the many forms of visible and invisible disabilities. Advocating for the recognition and acceptance of these differences, in order to help everyone function to the best of their abilities, is at the heart of her work.
