  • French : from Old French triche ‘trickery’, ‘deception’, or, written Triché, from the past participle of tricher ‘to trick or deceive’. Both names may have denoted a cheat or a cunning, deceitful person.
  • Altered spelling of German Trisch, a variant of Driesch, a topographic name from Middle High German driesch ‘uncultivated land used as pasture’. See also Trice 2.
