  • Slovenian : nickname for a refugee from the Turks in the 15th and 16th century, from a derivative of uskočiti ‘to flee’. Slovenian territory was a refuge for Christians from Bosnia when it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and from the parts of Croatia which were a war zone.
  • Dutch : variant of Schock 2.
