  • Polish and Jewish (from Poland) : habitational name for someone from any of several places called Sikora, Sikory, or Sikorzyce, named with sikora ‘titmouse’.
  • This name, borne by many Polish noble families, has been recorded since the 15th century. The statesman and general Władysław Sikorski (1881–1943) was prime minister of the Polish government in exile and commander in chief of the Polish army during World War II.
