- This name was estabished in PA in the 18th century. George Oldt arrived in Philadelphia from the Rhineland in Germany on the ship Phoenix in October 1744; he or his family eventually settled in Ruscomb Township, Berks Co., PA. Twenty years later, in 1766, Johannes Olt arrived in on the ship Chance, settling in Lehigh Co. There has been some confusion between the two immigrant families.
