One example, in Sogn, is named with Old Norse naddr ‘stud’, ‘nail’ (relating to the shape of a headland) + vik ‘bay’, ‘inlet’; another, in Agder, is from Old Norse knǫttr ‘hummock’ + vik; and a third, in Sunnmøre is from not ‘nut’ + vik.
