Family name origins & meanings

  • Irish : probably a variant of McCullough, or an Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Duinnshléibhe (see Dunleavy). Seán de Bhulbh notes that there was an Ulster family called Mac Colla, though this was usually Anglicized as Coll.
