- German (Landacker) : altered form either of Landegger, a topographic name meaning ‘owner of fields of a certain territory’, or of Landecker, a habitational name from any of several places in Germany and Austria called Landeck (see Landeck). This name was prominent among Salzburg Protestants who settled in East Prussia.
