  • Dutch : from a short form of a Germanic personal name with the first element agi ‘edge’, ‘blade’ (see, e.g., Egbert).
  • Norwegian : habitational name from any of several farmsteads so named, either from Old Norse Heggvin from heggr ‘bird cherry (tree)’ + vin ‘meadow’, or from hegg (indefinite plural of heggr) alone.
  • Variant spelling of Swedish Hägge (see Hagg).
