  • Italian : from a personal name bestowed in honor of the feast of the Epiphany, from Greek epiphaneia ‘showing’, ‘manifestation’. This was given in particular to children born on the feast of the Epiphany (January 6th), commemorating the manifestation of the infant Christ to the three Magi.
