  • Hungarian (Búza) : from búza ‘wheat’, hence a metonymic occupational name for someone who grew, milled, or sold wheat.
  • Czech : from a pet form of the personal name Budislav.
  • Polish : nickname for a scold, from buza ‘reprimand’, ‘scolding’; in some dialects this word also has the meaning ‘porridge’, ‘soft pulp made from cereals’, and in some cases the nickname may have arisen from this sense.
