  • Irish : Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Giolla Bhrídín, diminutive form of Mac Giolla Bhrighde ‘son of the servant of (Saint) Brighid’ (see McBride). This name was once found in an ecclesiastical family in County Down, but it has not survived in Ireland.
