  • English : perhaps a variant of Babb. In the British Isles it is now most common in mid-Wales and in the border county of Shropshire, where it is recorded from the 16th century.
  • William Bebb (1802–73), Governor of OH 1846–48, was a descendant of an immigrant from Montgomeryshire, Wales.
