Dr. Allison McGeer
LifeSpeak Expert, Microbiologist, and Infectious Disease Consultant
Dr. McGeer is a Microbiologist, Infectious Disease Consultant, and the Director of Infection Control and the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Research Program at the Sinai Health System in Toronto, Canada, and a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the University of Toronto, then completed a fellowship in hospital epidemiology at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1989/90. Her areas of research interest are the epidemiology of influenza infection, the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, and adult immunization. She has been a member of Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization, and is a member of the Ontario Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee.
