Peggy Gisler and Marge Eberts are experienced teachers who together have more than 60 educational publications to their credit. They are also parents who understand the conflict that can occur between parents and teachers, because they have been on both sides.
They began writing books together in 1979. Careers for Bookworms was a Book-of-the-Month Club paperback selection, and Pancakes, Crackers, and Pizza received recognition from the Children's Reading Roundtable. In 1984, they combined their experience as teachers and authors to start the "Dear Teacher" column, which now appears in newspapers across the country.
Gisler and Eberts have taught in classrooms from kindergarten through graduate school. Both have been supervisors at the Butler University Reading Center. Gisler has received excellence in teaching awards for her work at Butler University. She is also a recognized expert in literacy, and frequently gives workshops at state and national teacher conventions.
