3 Quick and Cute Spring Crafts for Kids

With the weather (finally!) getting a little warmer, you and your kiddos might start dreaming of all the spring flowers and butterflies to come. Celebrate the beginning of spring with these super cute and easy-to-make spring crafts for kids.

Paper Towel Butterflies

Transform paper towels into fluttering butterflies with this simple spring craft your children will love.

Materials:

  • Small bowls
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Heavy-duty paper towels
  • Paint brushes
  • Droppers
  • Chenille sticks
  • Glue stick
  • Googly eyes
     

Instructions:

  1. Fill small bowls with water and add a drop or two of food coloring into each bowl.
  2. Place a heavy-duty paper towel in front of each child, and allow them to paint or dribble the colored water on to the paper towel using paintbrushes and droppers.
  3. Allow the colored paper towels to dry completely.
  4. Cinch each paper towel in the middle and secure it with a chenille stick. Twist and curl the ends of the chenille stick with your fingers to look like antenna.
  5. Attach two googly eyes on to the chenille stick using a glue stick and let the glue dry.
     

Spring Flower Sensory Bottle

Your older kids can help make these spring flower sensory bottles for your little ones to play with on a rainy day.

Materials:

  • Plastic soda or water bottle with lid
  • Fresh wildflowers
  • Glitter
  • Plastic gemstones
  • Sequins
  • Green and blue electrical or duct tape
  • Clear packing tape
     

Instructions:

  1. Wash out the plastic bottle and the lid.
  2. Cut the stems off of fresh wildflowers, then place them into the bottle. Dandelions and daisies work well.
  3. Pour 1 tablespoon of glitter , plastic gemstones, and sequins into the bottle.
  4. Fill the bottle with water, then screw the lid on tightly.
  5. Wrap blue electrical or duct tape over the top of the bottle, covering the lid completely.
  6. Cut pieces of green electrical or duct tape to look like grass, then adhere the tape grass blades to the bottom of the bottle.
  7. Shake the bottle well and enjoy.

Egg Carton Flowers

Egg carton flowers sure to make some of the cutest spring crafts for kids, and they also help you utilize all of those leftover egg cartons hanging around the kitchen.

Materials:

  1. Paper egg carton
  2. Scissors
  3. Acrylic or tempera paint
  4. Paint brushes
  5. Hot glue gun
  6. Colorful beads
  7. Balsa wood stick
     

Instructions:

  1. Cut apart a paper egg carton with scissors, removing the lid and separating the individual cup sections.
  2. Cut 1 inch down the sides of each cup, making four cuts total per cup.
  3. Bend the sides down, which will now resemble the petals of a flower.
  4. Paint each egg cup flower using colorful acrylic or tempera paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.
  5. Hot glue a colorful bead into the center of each flower, making sure to keep the hot glue gun out of the reach of your kiddos. Allow the hot glue to cool and harden.
  6. Paint balsa wood sticks or wooden chopsticks green, then let them dry completely.
  7. Hot glue the end of each stick to the base of each egg carton flower.
