Homemade Play Dough

September 23,2010
G’s school started last week after weeks of G asking “when do I go to school?” every day since R started 1st grade nearly a month earlier. This year G walked right in to his classroom, sat down and got started right away playing, a welcome change after last year’s having to carry him into his classroom each week. And what was the first thing G began to do in his new class? Yes, G loves play dough. I feel a wee bit guilty because when we moved I packed up all the play dough and have yet to unpack it. I stumbled upon it the other day and some of our homemade dough was looking a little grungy. Time to make some new play dough! While I am not one iota as creative as Allison over at Craftivity Corner, I do make a mean batch of play dough. My friend shared this recipe with me a couple years ago, and it continues to be my go-to for easy homemade play dough. I thought I would share it with you and your family. Homemade Playdough 1 cup white flour 1 cup warm water 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon oil 1/4 cup salt food coloring Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled. I am signed up to be the monthly play dough parent in G’s classroom for March. Perhaps I will make up a batch in green: SPC
