I never made this Alanna of Trebond costume, but I am perhaps the most devoted follower of Alanna. About two years ago I made my own costume, I consider myself to be Alanna, so no better person to go as. The most important thing in my costume that is not shown in this one, is the shield. Alanna is known around the world as the Lioness, because that is what is on her shield. Either don't have a shield, or do it right, no plastic ones allowed! When I made mine, I cut an inch thick piece of plywood into an oval, spray painted it red, made a blown up copy of the cover of the 4th book (artist Joyce Patti), cut out the Lioness,a and made a stencil that I spray painted to the plywood. I used a thick piece of duck tape, and screws, and a door handle to make an arm attachment on the back of the plywood. On my sword I used nail polish to paint the crystal purple. I wore a red tunic, black leggings, purple contact lenses, my horseback riding boots, and a belt, and I made a helmet out of tinfoil. To really make a costume for the complex character of Alanna, you need to do the little things that make it unique.
