Description of technique:
My children go to school with a mentally disturbd child on Ritalin. He has not been diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Disorder, but was put on Ritalin because the family didn't want ot seek counseling, and needless to say, nothing is better.

His mother is as much a problem as he is, to the point of teaching the child to lie about situations. The most recent lie had to do with me yelling at him in the lunchroom where I volunteer. This was a blatant attempt at scaring me.

I brought the matter to the principal's office with documentation and explained my concerns about the family to the principal. I also informed the mother that I would hold her personally responsible for future harassment, and would bypass the principal and go straight to legal methods. The principal didn't want to believe that the mother was responsible, but I am putting together documentation to present to her so that she can better evaluate the situation. I am including the list from the FBI of common warning signs of school shooters, which I found on Education Worlds Web site.

I think that the sooner parents are made liable for their family's behavior, the more effectively bullying can be remedied.

Age group this technique is effective for:
Elementary School
