Amy and Clarissa are little girls who love to draw pictures of Old Witch, a character featured in stories told by Amy's mother. When the girls decide Old Witch is too mean, they draw her a lonely house on a hill where she must stay, drawing a Little Witch Girl and a Weeny Witch Baby to keep her company. Amy and Clarissa's lives intertwine with the stories of Old Witch, making for a fun and unique story for 4th-8th graders.

This book was first published in 1960, but remains popular today. The author, Eleanor Estes, is famous for the Newbery Award-winning books, Ginger Pye and The Moffats.
