Grade level:
3-5

Objectives:
The student will learn how to
a) be responsible, b) learn organizational skill, c) be a team member, d) get credit for all completed work and projects, d) help teacher to save time, thus create more classroom learning time.

Materials needed:
completed assignments

Time estimate to complete:
15 seconds

Procedure:
Finally an easy, hassle-free, multi-time-saving way to collect assignments. Assign each student a corresponding identification number. (It's helpful to go in alphabetical order). Part of their personal student responsibility is to place this number along with their name and date in the upper right hand corner of each assignment. Next, have the students quietly line up in I.D. order with their assignment in hand. (My last class of 31 students could successfully complete a "I.D. Order Line-up" with their papers in hand in less than 9 seconds. Once they are lined up quietly they hand their paper to me and say their I.D. number aloud. They love this procedure and it gives them a stretch break. It only takes seconds but it saves tons of time when it comes to correcting and logging grades. It also allows me to quickly discover who is missing their homework and/or class assignment. This I.D.Order Line-up classroom procedure is an excellent way to line up for a fire and/or earthquake drill.
