Grade level:
K-2

Procedure:
A couple of things I do within the first 2 days of school is (1) give them a tour of all the buildings and classrooms. The older kids like seeing the young ones and the teachers generally don't mind our coming through since they too are filling space. The last stop in our tour is always the office and the secretary hands out cookies (that I provide) to each of the students.
Secondly, I have them make their own cover sheet for tests and quizzes by giving them a sheet of construction papers & a variety of stickers and suggestions for drawing pictures or writing messages. Once they've created their masterpieces, I laminate them and they last the year through.
