Curriculum area:
Reading/Language Arts

Grade level:
K-2

Objectives:
Identification of those children in need of immediate reading intervention.

Materials needed:
Letter cards, a paper listing the alphabet and a space for the child's name.

Time estimate to complete:
2-3 min. per child

Procedure:
Place letters of the alphabet on a table - out of order.
Call students back individually and have him/her tell you each letter name and its sound.
Mark those letters on the sheet that your student missed.
This is a huge help for teaching phonics and for communicating specific areas of need to parents.
