Curriculum area:
Music

Grade level:
K-2

Objectives:
To teach class rules, goals and procedues.

Materials needed:
Puppet and class rules poster, class goals poster and class procedures poster.

Time estimate to complete:
15 minutes

Procedure:
On three pieces of poster board I write the class rules, goals and procedures.
I place them on the chalkboard.
I have a puppet who talks to the child about each of the posters.
She answers their questions and tells them that if the follow all the rules and procedures and meet their goals they will see her and her friends from time to time.
The children enjoy the puppet and pay more attention when she teaches these things than when I do.
I also try to use the puppets at least every other week during the year.
