Clean Up and Following Directions

Curriculum area:
Reading/Language Arts

Grade level:
K-2

Objectives:
To practice following oral directions and listening for information.

Materials needed:
Garbage can and rewards..candy, stickers, pencils etc.

Time estimate to complete:
as fast as your students are

Procedure:
As the last item of the day instruct students that:
1. on the floor is some "magic trash".
2.everyone pick up the trash on the floor.
3.if you find the magic trash you will receive the reward.
4.continue to remind them that you still see the piece of "magic trash" until the room is back in order or clean.
5.remind them that the must listen for information.
6.you may also give directions as..foward...in front off.. behind ...West...North etc.
7.there really is no "magic trash" but...as long as they enjoy the activity, follow directions, listen for information and the room gets clean.
8.I usually reward the students who work the hardest or in some cases everyone.
