Description of technique:
I read this in our local paper, so I can't take credit, but I thought it was interesting.

The writer (a parent) suggested inviting the bully over for a playdate. The theory was that bullies do not tend to pick on kids they know and have contact with.

I thought this might work with younger children where socialization can be a problem. I used it effectively when my daughter started attending a new room for pre-k children at her preschool and was being excluded from the house corner and other activities by a clique of three girls who had been there much longer. I realize that cliques and bullies are different and age was a factor, but I wanted to throw this out as an interesting idea.

Age group this technique is effective for:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
