Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Quick and Easy:
A tight fitting sand/beige long sleeved shirt (V-neck, if possible)
An oversized long sleeved shirt of the same sand/beige color
(this one must be similar to a collared shirt that reaches down to upper/mid thigh)
A big brown cloak that reaches to ankles and with a hood
A sand/beige piece of fabric about 3-4 inches wide and long enough to tie around waist twice
Dark brown/black belt about 2-3 inches wide
Dark brown or sand/beige loose fitting pants (brown for Jedi Master, sand for Jedi Padawan)
Black boots (combat boots are fine, nothing with heels, ladies!)
Plastic toy lightsaber
DMC floss or SMALL rubber bands in red and yellow (if Padawan)
Padawan braid- these can be bought in costume stores, or if you have longish hair, you can just braid some of it
Instructions:
The tight fitting shirt goes on first, with the looser shirt of same color on top of that. Wrap it around like a robe. Wrap the fabric around your waist, it's part of the belt. Put the belt on. Don't forget the trousers (because I almost did! Haha)! Put on black boots OVER the trousers (tucked inside the boots) if possible, sew on a clasp at the neck of the inside of the cloak so it's invisible.
Hook on braid on right side, or braid your hair just a bit above and behind of ear. It needs to be a small, thin braid. Wrap red DMC floss/rubberband around part of the braid, about jaw level (higher if hair is shorter), then wrap yellow band more towards the end of the braid.
If you can, pull back the rest of your hair in to a ponytail.
Grab your lightsabre and have fun!
Other information to consider:
The tunics/pants/cloak can be sewn using patterns if you're a sewer.
Consider going as master and Padawan with friends as different aliens and such.
Remember some quotes from Star Wars! Bow respectfully to the person when they open the door, if you've made up a Jedi name, introduce yourself, and when you've collected and are about to leave, do the line: "May the Force be with you." It's just classic. Another idea of what to say besides trick or treat: "May the Force be with you. Master Yoda has informed us that you requested help from the Jedi Council. We were also told that you were most hospitable and would give us foodstuff."
Consider bringing a small boombox along and play some songs from the movies.
