What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond
Estimated time required to make this costume:
1 hr?? probably less
Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required
Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
1 large piece of foam board, 2 if an adult or large person
8 pieces of felt, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, purple, brown and black
glue - white school glue or a glue gun
string or ribbon
super strong hair gel
brown face paint and wash out hair dye (if you are blonde) (optional)
dark or black outfit, to make the paint set stand out
paint or large markers to write "Crayola" or "Prang" on the 'lid' of the paint set
Instructions:
Cut the large piece of foam board into 2 pieces, for the front and the back of the paint set; you may need to have 2 sheets for a larger person.
If you plan on sitting a lot, or getting in and out of a car, you may only want to do the front panel! This is not a costume to sit in if you do the back panel (lid).
On the front side, cut the felt into ovals to look like the paint in the paint set, and glue to one piece of the board. Line them up in the right order and space evenly before you glue. Once you start, if they are not even, you cannot change them.
On the other piece of foam board, make the lid using the paint and/or markers. Copy off of a set you have.
Poke holes on the short sides of the foam boards, and attatch them 'sandwich board' style with the string or ribbon. They should go from just below the neck to mid calf.
Darken hair if needed, and paint your face brown. Use the super hold hair gel liberally, and make your hair stand to a point, and..........You are a paintbrush!
Other information to consider:
If you will be at a party or somewhere else where you will need to sit down a lot, only use the front paintbrush panel, and hang it front your neck with wide ribbon. A turtleneck is recommended.
