What age group is this costume for?
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
Time to shop, about 30 min. to put together, and as long as needed to prepare

Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Long, formal gown of any color
matching shoes (make sure they are comfortable)
3-inch wide ribbon of silver or white (any length desired, probably best to get excess ribbon)
Costume jewelery and tiara (found at places like Claires and Afterthoughts/amke sure they match and make them big)
permanent marker or glitter pen/puff-paint
make-up

Instructions:
Take the ribbon and attach the ends together by sewing or gluing. Write on he ribbon either "Miss America" or "Miss (state of choice). Do your hair - put it in a formal updo or leave it down - it is up to you. Put a lot of make-up on like you are going on stage - at pagaents, the lights wash out faces, so excess make-up is necessary so it is visible. Put on your gown - nylons are optional. Last, put on your shoes, tiara and costume jewelery.

Other information to consider:
If you are going to be outside, take a nice looking jacket. If you choose to, take a bouquet of roses and a scepter. If you want, convince a good guy friend to go as your escort - dress him up in a tux. Costume is best for parties. DON'T FORGET TO PRACTICE YOUR WAVE!!! Have fun!
