Estimated time required to make this costume:
About 1 or 2 days
Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required
Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
*Plain white or red dress shoes/slippers (try Pay Less or Walmart for some cheap shoes)
*LOTS of red glitter (a craft store should sell it in large shakers)
*Elmer's Spray On Glue and clear coat (or just the clear coat; Elmer's Spray On Glue can be found at craft stores)
*Shallow Box (to make the shoes in)
Instructions:
I suggest going outside or in a basement/garage to do this because it can get messy! Place the shoes in the box. Spray the glue/clear coat on the shoes, a little section at a time. Before glue/clear coat dries, pour on the glitter, making sure to cover entire area with glue/clear coat on it. Repeat on other sides of shoes. This process may be repeated as many times as possible to cover shoes. When shoes are completely covered in glitter, spray the clear coat over them to secure glitter (it won't fall off as easily this way). Let dry, and you have some very sparkly shoes!
Other information to consider:
These go great with a Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz costume or any other costume where they are needed. Glitter color can also be substituted.
