3 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Estimated time required to make this costume:
1 - 2 hours

Difficulty level:
Almost as easy - some sewing

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Matching tights and body suit
Fabric or two pair additional tights
Polyfil stuffing
Thread

Optional:
Yarn or string
Matching ballet slippers or shoes
Double-sided tape
Contrasting felt or reflective cut-outs
Flexible plastic-coated wire or pipe cleaners
Face paint to match the body suit and tights

Instructions:
The arms and legs of the body suit and first pair of tights make four of the spider's eight legs.

Make tubes of fabric and stuff with polyfil or batting to make the other four legs. (You can also stuff the legs of the extra pairs of tights.) Baste to the back of the bodysuit. If you want these legs to move with the child, either attach yarn to the ends of these and to the child's arms, or put the wire or pipe cleaners inside the legs to stiffen them.

If desired, use double-sided tape (or baste) to attach markings made of a contrasting material.

You may also want to paint the child's face to match.

Other information to consider:
Using light-colored or reflective material for the markings will increase your child's visibility to motorists while trick-or-treating.
