3 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
Ranges from couple of hours to couple of days

Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
1 black long sleeved unitard
1 black wig, preferably black, with lots of fuzz to tease up
2 pairs of legwarmers OR 2 pairs of really big socks, with feet cut out
black cord, and 1 black maribou boa
if you want multi colored cat, need some paints...
face paint

Instructions:
Take the unitard, and sponge paint colors, like brown, white, and burnt orange, in CAT patterns ... stripes, or all over for Calico effect.
Either paint legwarmers (or socks) or leave them alone. Tease wig into a big fluff, making sure to tease in some ears. Stripe some paint into the hair, to represent fur. To assemble costume, put on unitard, then put 1 pair of legwarmers (Or socks) onto legs, and 1 pair on arms. Tie cord around waist, and on the back, pin a length of maribou boa to the cord, for a tail. Paint face up to look like a cat ... don't forget the nose!
Then put on wig, practice your meow, and go out.

Other information to consider:
Remember that you can't bob for apples with face paint on!! Also, for little kids there are Vampire wigs that you can tease up...then, stitch a little piece of elastic to the bottom, to keep it on. Also, for shoes, my girls wore ballet slippers, but lightweight tennis shoes would be good for a night of trick-or-treating. Also, if you are going as a black cat, put SOMETHING white on the costume so that the child can be seen in the dark ... my suggestion? One white legwarmer, for a "boots" kind of effect.
