4 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
half hour-45 minutes?

Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Kitchen trash bags: the "decorator" type, in pretty colors! Multiple colors, for effect.

Tights; leotard; pretty shoes/slippers

Instructions:
Take 2 bags, yank the drawstings until snug. Lay bags side to side. Tie the loop/drawstring on one side of one bag, to the loop Nearest on the 2nd bag. Go to the second loop/string of the second bag, and tie that to the nearest loop of a Third...and so on, until you have sufficient poufy and colorful "skirt" to go 'round your waist.

Trim up the bottoms of the bags to give a leafy, zig-zaggy, Flower Petal kind of effect.

Headpiece: just two trash bags, tied together in same fashion as the skirt, cut short n' very zig-zaggy, fluffed. Attach thru the knot with hairpins.

Other information to consider:
Not for ages 3 and under, due to choke/suffocation hazards of plastic (and worse yet, Pieces of Plastic!!!) If you have little children in your household, find an Alternative to this costume. The remnants of creating it are hazard enough to disqualify it from consideration.

For older children and adults, though, it could be a definite Fun costume. Way cheap, fast.

On TV several years back, I saw a clown with a moustache and a tutu, a little hand bell (ding!) and a kazoo, who spoke no words, but convinced a Really Tall, all-Guy type man to put on the tutu over his blue jeans, and make like a ballerina at the ding of the bell. The name of the clown escapes me, but it was a really entertaining bit. The clown kept coaching until this audience volunteer got "graceful," making fun of his first attempts with semi-sarcastic kazoo noises. Guys can dress like this if they want to, but remember that some of us have Cameras.
