4 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
1 day

Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Newspaper
1 gal milk carton
Green paint (for face, you can use flesh tone)
Black or brown paint for hair
Red paint for around bottom of head
Glue (for making paper-mache)
Football shoulder pads
One of dads big shirts (long sleeves work best)

Instructions:
Using 2 parts glue and 1 part water make a thin paste out of the glue. Take milk carton and form one layer of paper-mache. Ball up some of the newspaper and form a nose. Place where appropriate on carton keeping in mind that the opening will be the neck. Let dry for about an hour in a sunny local or warm area (do not put in oven). Start the layer process again and continue until you have desired thickness (about 6 to 10 layers). Let dry thoroughly before painting face and hair. Make sure you add red paint around the neck. Also use a red scarf or old cloth and paint red or get red cloth and stuff in opening left at top of shirt. Pads should be pulled tight and put on top of head. Eye holes are made by cutting small holes in the shirt and you can cover these with a fine mesh fabric so you can't see the eyes (glue don't sew). The head is to be carried in the crook of the arm.

Other information to consider:
Have fun and hope your Halloween is safe and spooky.
