What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Estimated time required to make this costume:
1-2 Hours

Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
A hot glue gun
1 skein of brown yarn
Some pink felt
A headband

Child should dress in a solid pink jumper, a pink striped turtleneck with matching pink striped socks, and black or brown mary-jane shoes.

Instructions:

  • To make D.W.'s hair, coat the headband with hot glue and wrap brown yarn tightly around the headband from end to end.
  • Attach long strands of brown yarn all around the underside of the headband.
  • Determine length of strands by trying headband on child's head.
  • Cut little aardvark ears out of the felt and attach to the top of the headband.

    Other information to consider:
If you can't find a pink jumper, any color jumper would work as long as the striped shirt and socks matched. If the jumper has pockets on the front you might want to cut out D.W.'s initials and attach one to each pocket. Another cute idea is to have your child carry a D.W. doll with her when she goes out treat-or-treating.
