For either costume, your child should wear a black turtleneck, black pants, black shoes, white gloves, and Disney mouse ears.
Instructions:
For Minnie you need to make a little jumper out of the red and white polka-dot material:Measure the width of your child's waist and add another 2 inches for seam allowance and ease of fit. Also measure for skirt length.Lay the fabric down on the floor and fold it over so that you have 2 layers.Cut out desired skirt shape to appropriate width and length.Fold fabric down one-quarter inch and sew across waist and hemline.Sew right sides of fabric together on both sides.Measure child for polka-dot jumper straps (similar to the way suspenders would look.)Cut the fabric 2 to 3 inches in width and to the desired length. With right sides together, sew fabric together lengthwise.Turn fabric right side out and sew each end to the top of skirt (from front to back). With the rest of the polka-dot material, tie a bow around Minnie's mouse ears and tie bows to Minnie's shoes. All that's required for Mickey is that you sew the big gold buttons to the front of the shorts.
Other information to consider:
Face paint for Mickey and Minnie is fun if your child is comfortable wearing it. And practicing the Mickey Mouse Theme Song, using a squeaky Mickey Mouse voice, will certainly add to the overall looniness.
