4 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
2 hours

Difficulty level:
Almost as easy - some sewing

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Leotard
Tights
Ballet skirt/tutu
Mesh/lace type material
Wire or 2 coat hangers (for wings)
Small piece of cardboard 5"x10"
Scissors
Wand (make your own or purchase at any costume/party store)
Glue and glitter (or glitter glue)
Needle and thread
Body glitter

Instructions:
Make wings by bending 2 pieces of wire or 2 coathangers into wing shapes and cover them with the mesh/lace material, stitching it on around the frame with needle and thread.
Apply glue on wings in swirls and shake on some glitter to decorate. An easier method might be to use glitter glue.
Cut two slits in the center of the cardboard about 3 inches apart and 3 inches long. Cut a long, thin strip of mesh/lace material and thread it thru the slits. (This is to attach the wings by placing them on back and wrapping the material around the front of the body and crisscrossing over the chest and tying behind the neck.)
Attach your wings to the piece of cardboard with heavy-duty tape and/or glue.
Get dressed in your tights, leotard and skirt. Put on your wings. Apply body glitter to face and grab your wand...and you're ready to go!

Other information to consider:
It would look best if you don't mix colors for costume...if you choose pink, then stick with varied shades of that color.
